Pooncarie Fly-Away March 2010 |
On Saturday the 20th March 2010 there were about 10 planes and 18 people descended on the smalll town of Pooncarie in Western NSW on the banks of the Darling River.
Most of us left Deniliquin mid morning and flew to Mildura where we re fueled and had a quick bite of lunch at the airport. We then tracked NW to Wentworth and had a look at the Murray Darling Rivers junction and then onto Pooncarie.
The publican came to pick us up and then loaned us his car to continue ferrying in people from the airfield.
We all enjoyed a few drinks and had dinner in the pub, what an enjoyable meal at the pub, the accommodation was great as well.
Next morning we wandered over to a small cafe on the banks of the Darling River for a great hearty english breakfast, bacon, sausages, eggs and toast.
The Pooncarie pub is a really good place for a fly-away, not too far, good strip, great food and service.
